About Joe

Joe Folsom grew up in Central Florida and always knew he wanted to be in sales. As a young child, he would sell oranges from his red wagon door to door. His first real sales job was selling office furniture and equipment. Having an analytical mind, he went on to pursue a career in information technology. Working his way up the corporate ladder as a Regional Sales Manager and later to a national level as a Product Manager, he was responsible for working with, training and assisting with the close of multi-million-dollar projects. With over 350 salespeople and 54 offices, in three countries, he was on the road (or in the air) every week.

In 2006, Joe decided to make a career change that would require less travel so he could spend more time at home with his family. He settled in Chattanooga and partnered with a log home manufacturer to market and sell log homes. To augment his log home business, he got his Real Estate license in three states and began marketing both to his clients. In 2008, when the Real Estate market was struggling, he decided some diversification was necessary and partnered with an Architect and a builder to offer Design/Build services, in addition to his Real Estate offering.

Today, Joe continues to sell Real Estate and is partnered with several Architects, Architectural Designers and builders to bring the right new construction offering to his clients that want new construction. Licensed as a Broker/Realtor in GA and TN, Joe works with both Buyers and Sellers as he continues to offer the right Real Estate solution, from first time home buyers to last home buyers, wanting to make their dream home a reality. While the Modern Rustic Living Team sells homes all over GA & TN, most of their time is spent focusing on the North Georgia Mountains and the Eastern Tennessee valley. We are currently featuring new homes for sale in Georgia including Ellijay, Blue Ridge, Jasper, Morganton, Mineral Bluff, Blairsville, Hiawassee, Suches, Talking Rock as well as Ducktown & Turtletown in Tennessee.

Joe lives with his wife, Kathie in their home in Ellijay, GA where she takes care of his elderly parents ( Dad with Parkinson and Mom with Alzheimer’s ), so it is a full-time job. Together they cook and care for his parents in their later years just like they cooked and cared for him when he was a child. Joe says “It’s not easy, In fact, it’s hard but the right thing to do.” Joe and Kathie spend their free time enjoying gardening and canning. Their new toy is a freeze dryer where they preserve the bounty of their garden in mylar bags which have a 25-year shelf life. Joe and Kathie also enjoy boating and fishing on Carters Lake in Ellijay, GA.
